Which DPF is better for your truck and the environment?
DAF trucks meet European emissions standards at the time of delivery. One of the components that makes this possible is the DAF Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in the silencer. The DPF keeps particulate emissions within legal standards.
A properly functioning DPF is essential for your truck to perform to its best.
Smart interaction
In DAF trucks, the engine and the Emission Aftertreatment System (EAS) work together in an ingenious way to filter soot particles out of the exhaust gas. The DAF DPF is automatically regenerated at least once every 150 hours. This involves the engine management system elevating the DPF temperature to 510°C, resulting in the trapped soot particles being burnt off. The capacity of the DPF will decrease over time, and you'll need to have it replaced. The reason for this is that ash, the by-product of combustion, accumulates in the filter. Regeneration then has to be performed more frequently, leading to increased fuel consumption and the EAS ageing more quickly, which you naturally want to avoid. Preventive maintenance of the DPF helps to keep your DAF truck in perfect condition and ensures that it consumes less fuel. Depending on your vehicle type and its use, the replacement period of your DPF is between 180,000 and 540,000 kilometres.
Unique service. Maintaining quality.
During the DAF DPF Service, our service technician replaces the clogged DPF. Getting every last little bit of ash out of the filter channels is not simply a matter of blowing air through the filter, and this is why DAF Trucks has devised a unique cleaning procedure. Every channel in the DPF is sprayed under high pressure with special fluids to ensure optimal cleaning. The result is literally as good as new. The cleaned DPF is guaranteed to have the same quality as the original DPF and require servicing at the same intervals. Ignoring the service intervals leads to unnecessarily high fuel consumption and an increased risk of higher costs.

Lars Sanders, Product Manager PACCAR Parts Europe says:
"According to research conducted in a number of European countries, 'cleaned' Diesel Particulate Filters from other suppliers were still as much as 93% contaminated. In contrast, the DAF DPF Service results in a DPF that is as clean as a new DPF and has the same service interval."

Michel van Herpen, Service Manager Sales Operations says:
"From time to time, you need to replace the Diesel Particulate Filter. It's essential to use original DAF DPFs. Let me explain why: a DPF is actually a filter with many small tubes—thousands and thousands of tubes in fact—with a surface area of about 1 square millimetre. When you start with a brand-new DPF, the tubes are completely empty. Normally during driving, gasses pass through the tubes while ash remains in the tubes. This isn't a problem, because the vehicle regenerates the soot. However, after regeneration, some ash remains in the tubes.
Over time, the amount of ash grows, and only a small part of the tube can be filled with ash. This causes high pressure in the system. It's therefore important to change the filter on time. If you buy cleaned filters from someone other than DAF, you run the risk of the tubes not being cleaned thoroughly and residue remaining in the tubes. You will be starting with a filter that is already polluted with ash, and so the mileage you get out of it would be much lower than a DAF Original Part. Please be advised that, if this filter is blocked, it'll lead to high back pressure, which will damage the entire aftertreatment system. You could face damage costing more than ten thousand euros. Don’t take that risk. Use original DPFs from DAF. Nothing Beats Original."
